Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20

Here at Slayden Baptist Church, we strive to reach the ends of the earth with the Gospel of Jesus Christ! We encourage everyone to read through the Bible over and over each year in order to gain a better understanding of God’s Word. With this knowledge, we encourage one another to engage everyone they meet with the Word of God! We also hold regular Discipleship classes in order to equip one another to do the work that God has called us to do.

Some of the ways that we do missions are as follows:

The last week of each month, we have “E-Week” or Evangelism Week. This is a week where we emphasize going out and sharing the gospel with folks in our lives. We strive to encourage and help one another along the way to do what the Bible has commanded us to do! Having a week set aside each month just gives us a time to really focus on doing what we should be doing every day!

Once a year, our church sends a team to Brazil to build churches, help with medical needs, love on children, and share the Gospel with different cities each year. This tradition has been going for over 40 years!

In the summer of 2022, our church partnered with community parents to start a basketball league for high school students. We use this ministry to give the kids something to do during the summer months and help keep them out of trouble, we also try to help build character in these young people along with building relationships with families in the community. We are praying for souls to be saved and relationships to be built. The team practices during the summer and attends several competitive tournaments. At each practice, a team of volunteers leads the team in prayer and Bible study. We continue to strive to keep this ministry, build community, and win souls to the kingdom of God!

Different service projects are led regularly by our Church Plant Catalyst, Jeff Thomas, throughout the year. Some projects include on campus food distributions and mission houses in the local area.

Our church holds annual events like the Fall Festival and Easter Egg Hunt and Parade. These are wonderful events that draw in many people from the community that may have never heard about Jesus. We work to use these events to reach people with the Gospel!

We also support Operation Christmas Child/Samaritan’s Purse. This organization sends Christmas boxes to children all over the world every year. Our church partners to send boxes each year. This ministry usually cranks up in the Fall of each year with a dedication and send off service for the boxes in November. These boxes hold small gifts and essentials for children that aren’t as financially blessed as we are here in America. The boxes are sent to these children in an effort to share the love of Jesus Christ with them.

Slayden is the home to a certain missionary family (name not included for security purposes) that is out in the world sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ through the efforts of the International Mission Board (IMB). They have given up their life here in America in order to further the Kingdom of God! We support this family by prayer, giving, and support as they need it.
